Bangladesh Sangbadpatra Shilpa Parishad (BSSP) on Tuesday hosted an iftar and doa mahfil at the office of Daily Industry in Purana Paltan, Dhaka.
Presided over by BSSP President and Editor of Daily Industry Dr Enayet Karim, the event was attended by notable personalities, including former Deputy Attorney General Advocate Golam Mohammad Chowdhury, eminent journalist and researcher Dr Anwarul Karim, President of Barishal Division Association Iqbal Hossain Forkan, Director of ATN Group Mamunur Rashid, President of Dhaka Sangbadik Samabay Samity Sadrul Hasan, Publisher and Editor of Ekushe Bani Ashraf Sarker, Editor of Daily Challenge Nasir Al Mamoon, Editor of Diner Alo Fazlur Rahman Julfiker, Editor of Dainik Ajker Bani Atikul Islam, and General Secretary of BSSP and Publisher and Editor of Sesh Kotha Md Yunus Sohagh.
In his speech, Dr Enayet Karim expressed concern over the Media Reform Commission's recommendations recently submitted to the Chief Adviser, saying that their implementation could threaten the existence of many daily newspapers.
He urged the government to clear outstanding advertisement bills owed to newspapers and take necessary measures to ensure the survival of print media so they can continue to play a vital role in national development.
Maulana Sheikh Mohammad Atikullah conducted the munajat (prayer), seeking the Almighty's blessings for peace, prosperity, and stability in the country.
Senior journalist Rafiqul Islam Azad and Associate Editor of Daily Industry Farhad Chowdhury moderated the event.
