Saudi Arabia’s cabinet has approved the use of digital IDs to verify non-Saudi, non-resident foreigners’ ownership of property in the country. The General Real Estate Authority will coordinate with the Ministry of Interior, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the National Information Center and other relevant agencies to develop mechanisms to activate the digital ID.
The move aims to allow foreigners to use it before the implementation of the real estate ownership law. The cabinet also approved a decision of the Strategic Committee of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs regarding the administration of property ownership and use rights for foreigners, which includes the establishment of a committee within the authority’s board to oversee these matters.
